UPDATE: MARCH 27, 2007

This technical change has been APPROVED by the ISTA Technical Council, effective immediately.

FEBRUARY 14, 2007

A technical change to ISTA Procedure 3A (General Simulation Test of Packaged-Products for Parcel Delivery System Shipment) has been proposed by a Protocol Action Group and is now open for ballot by the 3-Series Test Series Group (TSG).

The proposed change is the addition of a second series of free fall drops for flat and elongated packages. In the current version of Procedure 3A, these package types need only pass one series of free fall drop tests. A significant amount of data has been collected that indicates improved correlation with the field performance of flat and elongated packages would be obtained by adding this second series of free fall drops.
