ISTA to Participate in Parcel Forum

The Parcel Shipping and Distribution Forum will be held September 11-13, 2006, in Chicago. This conference and exhibition covers a broad range of subjects related to parcel shipping, from order entry through final delivery. ISTA is producing a pre-conference workshop and also speaking in the main conference program.

Larry Rutledge of FedEx and Bill Kipp of ISTA will present the pre-conference workshop “Parcel Package Innovations” on Monday, September 11. Case studies will illustrate how damage and cost issues have been both solved and avoided through innovation supported by testing. The basics of pre-shipment testing and the latest test methods relating directly to the parcel shipping environment will be discussed. An afternoon tour of CDW Corporation’s distribution center will highlight how this leading technology product supplier approaches packaging and process innovations.

On Wednesday September 13, Bill Kipp of ISTA will speak on “The Physical Hazards of Package Distribution and How to Deal With Them”. Bill will talk about how the shock, vibration, compression and atmospheric hazards of parcel distribution systems can affect packaged products, and present general considerations for protective package design.
