Busy Autumn for ISTA
ISTA staff and officers will be on the go between now and the end
of the year. Activities include the Parcel Forum, Tokyo Pack, the
IAPRI Conference, a CPLP-Technician class and seminar in China,
Pack Expo, and a West Coast CPLP Workshop.
Parcel Shipping and Distribution Forum
September 11-13, Chicago. See the lead

October 3-7, Tokyo. Sponsored by the Japan Packaging
Institute, Tokyo Pack is known as the largest comprehensive packaging
show in the Asian region. There will be an estimated 500 exhibitors
in 6 halls and up to 50,000 daily attendees. The ISTA booth is PR-5
in the East Hall, near the entrance. If you’re going

IAPRI Conference
October
3-5, Tokyo. The International Association of Packaging Research
Institutes is holding its 15th World Conference on Packaging in
conjunction with Tokyo Pack. Over 80 presenters from 20 countries
will discuss the latest in packaging research and development. Among
the distinguished speakers are ISTA Executive Director Ed Church,
ISTA Executive VP Eric Joneson (representing Lansmont Corporation),
and ISTA VP-Testing & Certification Paul Singh (representing

CPLP-Technician
Workshop, China
October 11, Tianjin, China. This Certified Packaging Laboratory
Professional workshop is for Technician-level applicants only, but
otherwise will be the same as those held in the U.S. Material presentations
and discussions will be in the morning and early afternoon, followed
by a break and then administration of the exam. Contact Meredith

One-Day Seminar, China
October 12, Tianjin, China. This seminar, “Pre-Shipment
Testing: Benefits, Technology, and Organization”, will feature
speakers from ISTA-U.S. and ISTA-China. It will cover hazards of
the distribution environment, pre-shipment testing approaches and
benefits, test elements and how they relate to the distribution
environment, conducting performance testing in the laboratory, and
the new ISTA-China organization. Contact Meredith

Pack Expo International
October
29-November 2, Chicago. Pack
Expo is the largest packaging show in the Western Hemisphere,
with over 1600 exhibitors, 1.2 million net square feet of exhibit
space, and 50,000 attendees expected. ISTA’s booth, C-27
in the Packaging Education Pavilion, is located in a high-traffic
location right at the entrance to the North Hall and next to the
PackExpo.com information center. We’ll be featuring live software
demonstrations of Project 4AB, our new web-based test plan generator
for Enhanced Simulations.
West Coast CPLP Workshop


November 15-16, San Francisco. The fall Certified Packaging
Laboratory Professional Workshop will be held at the Kensington
Park Hotel in downtown San Francisco, California, November 15
& 16,. The Technician class will be on Wednesday the 15th, followed
by the Technologist class on Thursday the 16th.
Registration fees are $595 for each individual Workshop (Technician
or Technologist ), or $1070 for one person taking both. Email Lisa

You must make your hotel reservation separately. We have arranged
for a special room rate at the Kensington Park, $129 per night (single,
plus tax). Call the hotel at 1-800-553-1900 and mention reservation

Call for Dimensions.07 Presenters

Dimensions.07 will be held March 27-30, 2007 at Walt Disney World
in Florida. The speakers list is nearly set, but in the interest
of putting together the best possible program, we’re making
this one last call. If you have an interesting and informative topic
and would like to be considered as a Dimensions presenter, contact
ISTA Headquarters NOW!
Presentations should be related to transport packaging, the transportation/distribution
environment, product protection, testing, protective packaging innovations,
or similar subjects. Click

Welcome
Jamie Cripe – ISTA’s Newest Staff Member!

ISTA Headquarters is pleased to welcome Jamie Cripe as a new part-time
employee. She will be assisting with order fulfillment, test report
processing, dues processing and general office support. Her help
will be vital in freeing up current staff as ISTA continues to expand
membership development and international activities.
Jamie is presently a full-time psychology student at Lansing Community
College and earned an Honors scholarship for the upcoming year.
She plans to continue at Michigan State University in the near future.
Jamie has spent much of her free time as a band manager and has
toured 2/3 of the United States!
