ISTA, with the cooperation of Pharmaceutical Cold Chain Interest Group (PCCIG) is entering into an innovative program for the development of preshipment packaged-product performance tests based upon the temperature ranges found in the parcel delivery distribution environment in the US. The Protocol will develop baseline standards for hot and cold profiles per PDA Technical Report #39. This data will be used to create a composite profile tool that is representative of the typical conditions encountered by packages during shipment in Parcel Delivery Systems. The profiles will be used to statistically create the exposure conditions for lab testing of transport packaging in ISTA 7D Thermal Controlled Transport Packaging for Parcel Delivery System Shipment.

In addition, ISTA will have developed temperature data for 168 cities shipping through the Midwest Air Hub to a possible 167 others cities including the general vicinities of all major US pharmaceutical Distributors. This lane data will be available on a fee basis so that companies may qualify their own shipping lanes.
