Vibration Time vs. Distance Traveled (updated 2008)
Vibration Time vs. Distance Traveled (updated 2008)
Description
The question is often asked - how many hours equals how many miles? But there are numerous kinds of vibration tests, and numerous kinds of transport - so first we need to be
much
more specific. What
type
of test are we trying to relate to what
type
of transport? Even with proper definitions, the answer still isn't easy. This paper examines several existing recommendations, discusses the carious factors, explores different approaches involving frequency-domain and time-history testing, then proposes a methodology which might lead to improved simulations.
(This paper originally presented at ISTACon2000 by William Kipp). It was updated in December 2008.
