Dynamics/Environmental Test Technician - Wilsonville, OR - (1700001H)

3D Systems, leading global provider of 3D printing solutions is seeking a Test Technician to conduct packaged and unpackaged product dynamics and environmental testing. The Dynamics/Environmental Test Technician is responsible for maintaining a complete and comprehensive packaging lab, including environmental chambers. This position works closely with the packaging and product engineering team to develop robust products and product packaging solutions.

• Schedule and conduct environmental and dynamic testing in accordance with 3D Systems’ standards.
• Write test reports and enter failures/issues into formal bug tracking database.
• Consult and advise engineering community concerning test requirements, data, results and potential countermeasures.
• Responsible for operation, preventative maintenance, repairs and updating of test equipment.
• Develop specialized test fixtures as needed.
• Working knowledge of International Safe Transit Association (ISTA), ASTM and Mil-Std-810 test standards. Keep up with changes in national and international test requirements and specifications.
• Work environment consists of specialized software with PC’s to control and monitor test equipment and test chambers.
• Ability to occasionally lift 30 pounds.

Education and Training
• AA/AS degree in engineering or appropriate technical discipline preferred.
• ISTA Certified Packaging Laboratory Professional (CPLP) technician training strongly preferred.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a product development design environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Experience in engineering experimentation and laboratory testing preferred.
• Knowledge and experience using accelerometers and similar shock and vibration measurement devices preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in programming and use of temperature/humidity chambers preferred.
• Computer proficient (PC, Windows, and Excel).
• Solidworks CAD experience preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in programming Watlow F4 controllers and use of temperature/humidity chambers strongly preferred.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction in a fast paced result oriented data driven engineering environment.
• Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of dynamics and climatic test equipment including hydraulics, refrigeration (cascade and single state), pneumatics, electronics and mechanical systems is strongly preferred.
• Candidate must possess a good working knowledge of all systems and be able to operate, determine needs, performs preventative maintenance, repairs, and upgrading of all systems when needed.

As our Packaging Product Manager, you will be responsible for achieving revenue, gross margin and market share goals for this category. This position is responsible for defining and managing product lines, ensuring products comply with DG regulations and solve customer needs. This position is a cross-functional role, working closely with R&D, manufacturing, suppliers, supply chain, marketing and sales teams to ensure financial success. You’ll have plenty of help. Reporting to you will be one Content Specialist who will support your activities as well as ensure the product data is accurate and complete within our PIMS system. In addition, we’ll have one of our Product Engineers help design and develop new products that meet the needs of our customers.

Some Cool Parts Of Your Job:
Product Selection and Value Development
Determines which products LM should offer to its’ customers by understanding DG regulations and the needs of our customers. Defines products and features, develops value propositions, and validates with customers before product introduction. Works with Customer Service, Sales, Marketing and other departments to ensure they understand key product features and benefits. Responsible for planning and executing annual product line reviews.

New Product Innovation and Product Expansion
Evaluates customer needs within the context of new and changing regulations, determines gaps in product assortment to add and/or expand products to current line; partners with suppliers and /or Product Engineer to check and adjust portfolio.

Product Information Management
Is responsible for acquiring and inputting all product information into LM’s Product Information System (Perfion); checks and adjusts information regularly; ensures supplier is providing information per LM specifications and time frames

Supplier Management
Evaluates, partners, and manages suppliers; conducts quarterly review sessions with suppliers by agreed upon metrics; Assists in obtaining marketing funding from key strategic suppliers to achieve shared product revenue goals.

Product Lifecycle Management
Defines product roadmap and ensures it is regularly updated. Manages overall product lifecycle including product discontinuance, obsolescence and retirement, maintaining competitive pricing/margin. Responsible for all aspects of product performance throughout the life of the product. Ensures CCs, Sales

Inventory Management
Establishes product order and purchase quantities (rolls, packs, etc) to ensure optimal revenue and gross margin; leads annual inventory of product lines, monitors and expedites special/problem orders, as needed.

Uses financial goals, customer and commercial insight, and market intelligence to set price for new products, tracks and manages gross margin for product portfolio, and analyzes product margins against market requirements and adjusts as required. Monitors and analyzes multiple reports (revenue, product cost, order velocity and gross margin) to ensure product line is meeting all financial goals, adjusting strategy as needed.

Experience & Attributes We’d Like You To Have:
• 10+ years managing product line(s) with full P&L responsibilities
• Experience with automated PIMS systems, with Perfion a plus
• Comfort in evolving an already successful, industry-leading business
• Experience in coaching and mentoring individual contributors
